Beauty…  For many people in this big world of ours, that’s what it’s all about. The quest to be beautiful and ageless.

That’s why the latest lotions and potions, nips and tucks, botox, bee venom, bird poop, and snail facials are all the rage.

What if I told you that it can be a whole lot simpler than heading for the department store, spa, or to your nearest medical facility to experience the glowing skin and shiny hair that you’ve been dreaming about?

Let’s get back to basics for a minute.

It all begins with the food. It is the food that passes your lips each and every day that helps contribute to the health of your "internal rain forrest" or internal house and your outer beauty.
How awesome is that?

Your welcome. You can now pass on the snail facials, bird poop on your face, getting stung by bees, and instead head straight for the produce section of your closest market and then into the kitchen to get cookin'.

Eating a balanced whole foods diet chock full of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and high-quality protein is a great place to start when it comes to getting skin that glows.

I’m sure you know by now that fresh fruits and vegetables pretty much have magical powers when it comes to shiny hair, clear skin and strong nails.

Let me tell you a little secret.

The five beautifying foods that I am sharing with you don’t always come to mind when thinking about beauty. Yet they each have powerful beauty benefits.

If you want to look your best without the need for botox or other unnatural remedies, just include as many of these foods into your daily meals as you can.

Top 5 Foods for a Veggie-full and Beautiful You.

1.  Red Peppers.

All red and orange colored foods contain beta-carotene, which is a powerful antioxidant. Red peppers are particularly beautifying due to Vitamins A and C.

Vitamins A and C can help prevent cell damage that leads to premature aging, and they also help to reduce inflammation, which can cause a puffy-looking face.

Red peppers can be enjoyed alone, in a salad, soup, stir-fry, sautéed as a side dish or in a delicious fresh juice recipe.  Yum!

2.  Spinach.

All leafy greens are actually very powerful in terms of being a beauty food because of the chlorophyll they contain. Spinach is high in Vitamins A, B6, C, E, K, B6, Niacin, Zinc, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.

There are also loads of other phytochemicals and fiber in spinach that help build blood that is super clean, which will most definitely show through in your skin, hair and nails.

I love to include spinach in my daily meals by adding it to salads, juices and smoothies.

3. Turmeric.

This yellow-colored Indian spice has a load of powerful antioxidant qualities. Check out my last blog post on Golden Milk if you want a delicious warming tea with turmeric and coconut milk.

Turmeric assists in protecting our cells from free radical damage and also contributes towards cleaning up metabolic waste in our systems.

It is a great as a liver flusher that helps to say bye-bye to toxins that are being stored in this precious hard-working organ.

Dr. Andrew Weil recommends pairing turmeric with freshly-ground black pepper, as it increases the absorption of turmeric in our bodies.  The two go together like peas and carrots, so to speak.

Add fresh or powdered  turmeric to your teas, juices, soups, salads and entrees.

4. Pumpkin Seeds.

These are one of my favorite seeds of all time!

These little beauties are really powerful and contains high levels of zinc, calcium, potassium, magnesium and Vitamins B, C and E. Pumpkin seeds are also a great source of amino and omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for healthy cell maintenance. Healthy cells mean healthier skin, hair and nails.  Woot woot!

Eat pumpkin seeds by the handful, add them to smoothies, salads and even soups. Enjoy!

5. Parsley.

Next time your plate is garnished with parsley, gobble that garnish up!

Parsley is an extremely powerful herb when it comes to anti-aging and purifying and cleansing the body. It contains Vitamins A and C, as well as antioxidizing flavonoids that protect our cells from free radical damage.

Parsley helps to purify the blood, kill bacteria, aid in digestion and cleanses toxins from the liver.

Enjoy parsley in a salad, soup, fresh juice, and as a garnish and reap the benefits today!

Bonus Tip.

One more extra bonus tip for beauty is to be sure that you are drinking half your body weight in ounces of clean filtered/spring water every day to assure that you and your cells stay well hydrated. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, drink 60 ounces of water each day. For a special delicious-tasting treat, add some fresh-squeezed lemon or lime to your water, which will also help to alkalize your body at the same time.

The fabulous news?

All these foods are easy to find in your local market and are even easier to incorporate into your daily meals.  So there’s no need to delay, start adding them in your meals right away.
